She hires Miss Yang (Ahn So-young), Miss Hon g (Lee Hy e-young), and Se-young (Jeon Se-young ) through th e empl oyment agency. Miss Yan g and Miss Hong, who are well experienced in this t ype of business , are us ed to ac cepting propositions from customers. But Se-yo ung, who is dating a college stu dent name d Min-su, rejects all reques ts for sexual fa vors. When Min-su professes to havin g prob lems w ith his tuition and finances, Se -young reass ures him tha t she will procure the necessary funds for him . When the bar&# 39;s clientele be gins to dwi ndle because of Se-young, J i-suk reprimands her severely. Se-young develops a c lose relat ionship with a Captain Pak and even all ows him to sl eep with he r. She a sks Captain Pak to find Min-s u employment on a boat, but when Min-su comes to Sokcho for his new job, he sees how S e-young has been making her living. Shocked, he turns his ba ck on the job and leaves. Wh en he ev entually returns t o So kcho, he sc athingly denounces S e-young 's mo rality and sev ers thei r relationshi p. Decades ago, Ji-suk had s tumbled into the bar b usiness i n a desp erate effo rt to support her husband, wh o was se rving time in prison; she later left him voluntarily o ut of sh ame and moral degrad ation. Conce rned that Se-young w ill end up with th e same fate, Ji-su k asks Min- su t o meet with her. She beg s him no t to abandon Se-young, but he flatly refuses.
